Simply grand.

We started our day at the Grand Canyon with a good breakfast, followed by great news that my brother Noah was called to Salem Lutheran in Mahtowa, MN as their pastor. We are so excited for him and Abby! We still haven't figured out what the correct time is here in Canyon Land--the clocks and our cell phones are different--but we did figure out the shuttle bus to the park.

We arrived at the Mather Point along with an inordinate number of Japanese and German tourists and it made our first peak at the canyon a bit crazy, but once we got our feet moving, the crowd thinned out and we could enjoy the scenery. We hiked about 4 miles along the south rim.

Lunch was at the famous El Tovar Hotel. We realized we're definitely on Central Standard Time and so even though it is only just before 8 (we think that's the right time), we are ready to relax the rest of the evening. Life in Arizona is sun-filled and hot during the day, but the night feels really cold even though the temp is 74. It must be the contrast between the hot day that makes it feel like a sweatshirt would be nice.

Tomorrow is the last leg of the trip to Mesa. Next time we update, it will be from the new apartment!

Woohoo!

There were a lot of Japanese and German tourists when we passed through the Grand Canyon as well. I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip.
