em eddy left one of her Rolling Stone magazines here, and I finally had the chance today to sit down and read the article on U2. I like U2. I'm still getting used to their new album No Line on the Horizon (check it out if you have time), but that's beside the point.
Something that Bono said at the end of the article caught me today. His sacred life slogan is "vision over visability." At first I didn't quite get it. But he explained, "It's like Martin Luther King's speech--the moment when you see the place, but you can't see yet how to get there." "The slogan stands for an insistence on looking past what you can see in favor of what could be."
I love it.
What a wonderful statement. I am such a "potential person." I love to think about the potential in any given situation, and I do my best strive to make that happen. Things as they are will never be enough. It's one of those qualities that is great and horrible at the same time.
Tonight I wonder what this means for me in my life: personally, professionally, spiritually, emotionally, physically...all of the -allys. What is my vision? How does this line up with the church (Our Savior's) and the Church's vision?
How about you? What do you think?
I hope your week has been joy-filled so far. I know this is a busy time for most of us.
I was thankful today to wake up to the sun and warm weather knowing that tomorrow is our last Wednesday for Lenten Services (yes!), and two weeks from today I will be with those I love the most. Even if the chaos of the season is overwhelming, I am so happy to have things like this to look forward to.
Be well--
