As you might have noticed, I have been using all of my favorite Romanian words as my titles. Cinci (pronounced "cheench") means 5. For some reason, we all like it.
This morning our team, coordinators, and high school volunteer translators headed to the gypsy Pentecostal church. Matt preached, we sang. The pastor was charismatic enough to keep the long, long, long service interesting. Then we broke off with the children and make friendship bracelets and played games. They were so much fun. It's amazing how you can communicate non-verbally and still teach and laugh together. Their favorite thing today was to get us to make animal noises. FYI: animal noises are not universal.
This afternoon we headed to T-M (a near by city) and visited the local tourist sites. Most importantly we visited Buckner's transitional home(apartment) that houses three girls who were previously at Zao Orphanage and moved in hopes of educating them and providing them with new opportunities so they can function in everyday life. It was a pleasure to meet them and to hear their hopes and dreams. I hope this ministry continues to be supported. It was like night and day between the kids yesterday and the kids today. It goes to show that there is hope even in the worst of circumstances.
It is hard to believe our time is coming to a close. Soon I will be back in the heat of Arizona. I am not looking forward to that part.
Congrats to Noah and Abby on finishing the marathon in the heat. We are so proud of you! Next time I'm there to cheer you on.
All the best--
HGJ
P.S. Happy Father's Day.
