We made it back in the country! It was sweet bliss to hear the immigration officer say, "Welcome home." With all the unknown these past few days, it was comforting to be in a place where I have the ability understand most things and don't have to change my currency to buy a snack.
I have been at JFK going on 6 hours now waiting for my Sun Country flight back to Minneapolis. Everyone else has already left back to Arizona and my mom to MSP. It was well worth saving $500 and taking this flight, but I am anxious to get back to the Twin Cities. This 24 hour day has turned into a 36 hour day.
Thanks to friends for keeping me occupied and to Boingo for letting me get on the internet for an hour!
Noah, UB, Unca, and Ed & Karen have been on Popparone duty today. They say he is continuing to slowly improve. Hopefully we will get him out of the ICU soon. I talked to Dad for a brief moment. He doesn't quite sound like himself (he is still somewhat confused), but it was good to hear his voice. I am looking forward to seeing him tonight, even if it is late.
The unknown remains...how long will Dad be in the hospital...how long will my stay be...will this affect my last four weeks in Arizona...etc.?
Still, I have been reminded this week of how grateful I am for having my incredible family and great friends. All are blessings.
And thank you for all of the prayers!
With thanks--
