Shocked

I just came home from youth group tonight, and there is only one word to describe how I feel about the youth of our country and church:

SHOCKED!

Now I wouldn't consider myself naive about teenagers, their choices, manners, etc. I haven't been a rebel by most standards, but I've been around youth enough--especially in the past two years--to understand what's going on. Still, the reality of many of these kids' lives is dumbfounding to me. So much of what 15-16 year olds were doing when I was that age, is now being done in the 11-12-13 range (relationships with their families, dating, parties, skipping school, etc).

But, I have to say their stories and sharing tonight shows why I like youth ministry so much. They aren't afraid to be transparent and to be real about life and God.

I appreciate that.

It also makes me never want to have kids--or kids that turn into teenagers!

Ok, now I sound like a grandma--or as some of the kids called them tonight "raisins." Oh dear.

Hope you are well--

HGJ
