Happy Labor Day!We just returned from a great swim in the pool, and Arizona is starting to grow on us. It's another hot day but the water is refreshing and beautiful. Storms are supposed to be coming again later today--the clouds are rolling in already, but I am so thankful that we are not in the path of Hurricane Gustav.
I have always said I love water, but it is during these times on the Gulf and across the world, I curse the storms. These hurricanes continue to rob people of their homes, possessions, and lives. As people continue to flee the areas, I am reminded of the last time this happened with Hurricane Katrina. My bags were packed, my passport was in hand, and I was flying away to India for a semester abroad. I am thankful to be closer to home this time around.
I am also grateful to be spending today relaxing before heading back to work tomorrow...something I'm actually excited for! I had a wonderful time Sunday morning leading the Adult Forum. Over 70 people showed up to listen to my "call" story--complete with pictures of home, family, and friends. I loved every minute of it...and I think they enjoyed it too :)
This week's tasks:
1. Bible Study on Wednesday
2. Preach Sunday
3. Try to remember more people's names
4. Try to learn how to be a pastor
But for today: we are off to Fresh and Easy (kind of a neighborhood commercial grocery store) to buy some onions for tacos and fruit for snacking. Hopefully the store is open!
Hope you are all enjoying your long holiday weekend.
love HGJ
