Happy Halloween!

This past week at Bible Study, I asked those in attendance to introduce themselves and, if they had celebrated Halloween when they were little, to share what their favorite costume was growing up. Most of the people didn't dress up or celebrate (for some, Halloween didn't exist when they were young), but some had creative tricks they pulled on people. Surprise, surprise!

As I sit in 90 degree weather, it doesn't feel like Halloween. I just talked to Kira in MN though, and she said it is in the 60s at home. I guess that doesn't feel like Halloween very much either.

Some of my favorite costumes growing up?

A dinosaur (we won a contest), a Twins Homer Hankey (91 World Series and year of the blizzard), Pippi Longstocking, a lion!

Oh the fun!

I loved Halloween because it meant we would go visit some of our shut-in neighbors and family friends, pie at Grandma and Bernie's, Garfield's birthday celebration (he's 103 this year), and king-size candy bars at Unca's.

Last Halloween was spent with friends in South Minneapolis. Kira was a crayon, and I was a penguin.

This year, celebrating will be a bit different, but good, I'm sure. I'm not convinced there will be any trick-or-treaters, but we'll see. If nothing else, I'll work on my "All Saints" sermon.

Peace--
HGJ
