We traveled the windy roads of Route 88 up to Canyon Lake and Tortilla Flat. It is AZ's smallest official "community" with a post office and a voter's precinct.

The day was nothing short of wonderful. The temperature was perfect, the company was fantastic, the food was delicious (complete with spicy chili, cowboy burgers, and prickly pear ice cream--made from cactus flowers), and the views were spectacular. My mom compares its beauty to the Grand Canyon.
I could not think of a better way to spend my day off and to see more of Arizona's landscape.
Slowly but surely, the desert is growing on me :)
Oh, and plus, we had fun taking pictures with Shirley in the bathroom too:) It is quite the place if you ever get a chance to visit.
All in all, a good Friday!
Peace--

Is it against the rules for AZ people to smile? You and your mom are all cute and happy! I'm glad she's there with you! Tell her hi from me!
